The inspiration for the Dracula-like character was 1920s German expressionism - originally we were going to construct set like those movies, but instead we embraced the post-apocalyptic look of the desert and went for a narrative about a man who's left for dead in the desert and then slowly finds his calling and becomes the faith healer....trading in his crappy polyester cape for a fancy wool one with red satin lining! That 'transformation' recalls the sped-up footage from Nosferatu where the vampire moves freakishly fast... It's a cover of song by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band that Richard has always liked - we wanted to honor the weirdness of the song by creating something just as weird...
